Inspirations

This film, 'Don't Say a Word' inspired us with ideas for Our film, 'I'll Never Tell'. It helped us with different aspects for our storyline and also how to interpret our title sequence with new ideas from watching a representation of another thriller;for example to discover informtaion from the mental patient(the girl).

alfred hitchcock example 'the birds'

'The Birds' is an old thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, 1963. The background(being the sky) is a grey-blue shade which makes the audience feel slightly uncomfortable as it is a dull colour and reflects on the mood of the film and the genre. For the sound, the beginning is a calm drum which leads to a much more heavier and deeper sound. This again makes you feel uncomfortable and even more so when the violins enter in a minor key. Throughout, birds are flying back and forwards across the screen; crying out and squawking. This is meant to be disturbing for the audience as it as if they have been released. The birds reflect the three women in the film searching for affection. Simple, straight-lettered text written in a light blue shade;commonly used in thriller films.

Treatment of thriller

The plot of the film focuses on a deeply disturbed girl (18/19 years old) who has been institutionalized for a long time. Dozens of psychiatrists, doctors have been trying for years to find out the secret she holds which she will never tell. But not only detectives need this information; there’s someone else revisiting from her past, that left something behind. Who will get there first and more importantly, is her secret enough to save herself?
The locations we have chosen to shoot our title sequence are in a wood, a clustered small room, a swimming pool and an isolated mental hospital room(prison-like)
